Beta tomorrow

We are going live tomorrow for a small group of beta testers. The site is ready, buggy, especially in terms of UI, but ready. Competitors are sprouting left and right, so we are going to have a nice competitive battle on our hands pretty soon. The problem, I feel, is not so much competition, but the need to define the space in the consumer’s mind. In that sense, the more competitors, the better, actually, as there will be several of us pitching users, but only if we can capture the flag first.

Remember OnSale? They were bigger than eBay at first. We shall see whether we cross the finish line as eBay or as OnSale!
